More than 30 mothers at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital breastfed their children simultaneously at the count of one at 10.30 this morning.
A 24-year-old mother of two, Mereani Lalakomacoi said she is still breastfeeding her three-year-old daughter apart from feeding her younger daughter who is 2-years-old.
Mereani who breastfed both her daughters at the same time at 10.30 told Fijivillage that breastfeeding is beneficial in every way as it strengthens the bond between the mother and child and is safe and cheap as well.
Meanwhile, the health educator at the Ante-Natal Clinic at the Maternity Unit Aliti Qarikau said that to commemorate World Breastfeeding Day, they have dedicated the whole week to breastfeeding.
She said they want people and all new mothers to understand how beneficial breastfeeding is.
Breastfeeding Week is been celebrated at all the Health Centres, clinics and hospitals around the country.
