The 42 year old mother of serving prisoner, Iowane Benedito is expected to report an official police complaint this Friday, against the members of the arresting team who allegedly assaulted her son.
Viriseini Vakarau told Fijivillage this morning that she will go to the police station later this week to ensure that justice is done.
She earlier said that two options that her family is looking at include police to investigate the members of the arresting team and take them to task, and to find legal avenues through a lawyer to hold the people involved accountable in court.
Vakarau earlier confirmed that her son was one of the handcuffed men who was assaulted by the arresting team which included police officers.
Vakarau said she identified her son lying in the tray of the truck during his arrest which was also part of the video that was leaked in early March.
Benedito is facing a prison term for escaping from the Suva Corrections Centre in November last year.
Meanwhile we are awaiting a statement from the Fiji Corrections Services as Vakarau said she has not seen her son since March as the Corrections Services is not allowing her to visit him.
