Investigations are now underway in relation to the tragic incident in Lautoka yesterday after the bodies of a 32 year old woman and her one year 5 month old son were recovered from the Matawalu River.
The two were last seen near their home at about 2pm yesterday by the woman's mother-in-law.
Police are now trying to find out what happened as the two bodies were found floating in the river.
Meanwhile the woman's 36 year old husband, Krishna Murti Naicker was still in a state of shock when he spoke to Fijivillage about the loss of his wife and son.
Naicker said they were married for 12 years and never had any fights and hearing the news of his wife and baby passing away is a big shock.
He said that he and his two daughters are still trying to come to terms with the death of his wife and son.
