A 29 year old mother charged with the murder of her baby appeared in the Lautoka Court this afternoon.
It is alleged that on 4th March, Merewalesi Niusiladi dumped her baby which was later found on a beach in Lautoka.
She has been remanded in custody and no plea was taken as she has been ordered for psychiatric evaluation.
The case has been adjourned till March 30th.
Meanwhile, charges are expected to be laid against the man for the alleged murder of a shopkeeper Prem Narayan over the weekend.
Divisional Crime Officer Western SP Vijay Singh confirmed that the man will appear in the Lautoka Court tomorrow and charges are expected to be laid by this evening.
The suspect who was evading police after the incident was arrested by the Police Strike Back Team and the CID officers following a raid last night.
The post mortem report reveals that the man died of a brain hemorrhage.
