A 55yr old mother who used to buy presents and treat her children with cakes and the best food for Christmas will get nothing from her children who have left her to fend for herself.

Anita Devi who has a husband, three children and an adopted son was left behind in hospital by her daughter who refused to look after her after she suffered from a stroke.

Speaking on a talk back show on our sister radio station, Radio Sargam, Anita said she had to spend a night at a police station because she had nowhere to go and the police took her to the Social Welfare Department from where she was taken to the Samabula Old People's Home.

She also said children should think of how they will feel if their parents abandon them when they are sick or disabled.

She said she is happy at the Old People's Home and is looking forward to celebrating Christmas with her fellow residents.
