Nausori Police have charged a 26-year-old woman from Korovou, Tailevu for the alleged murder of her newly born baby boy earlier this week.
Divisional Crime Officer Eastern ASP Ramesh Chand confirmed the mother gave birth to the fully formed baby boy last Saturday and allegedly strangled him to death.
According to Police, the mother is alleged to have than thrown her baby into a pit toilet.
Police also received the post mortem report of the baby which stated that he was strangled to death.
Nausori Police are now trying to arrange a special court seating today in which the mother is expected to appear.
