A 26-year-old woman from Tailevu appeared in the Nausori Magistrate Court yesterday afternoon charged with the alleged murder of her newly born baby.
Milika Videi who is charged with one count of murder was not asked to take plea before Magistrate Salesi Temo and has been remanded in custody.
Videi also asked the Court if she can arrange a lawyer for herself.
The case has been adjourned to the 30th of this month before Magistrate Temo who is expected to transfer the case to High Court considering the seriousness of the alleged incident.
It is alleged after giving birth to her newly born baby last Saturday Videi strangled him to death and threw him into a pit toilet.
