A mother in her 20s and her 4-year-old daughter are believed to be the country's latest road victims.

This follows an accident at about 7am yesterday at Nanuku along the Kings Road where the two victims died after the vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road.

The two victims and relatives were travelling to Lautoka to attend a wedding when the accident occurred.

Due to the impact of the accident the two were allegedly thrown out of the vehicle and died at the scene.

Another passenger sitting at the back sustained injuries and is currently admitted at the Rakiraki Hospital.

The 21-year-old driver and a passenger sitting in the front seat sustained minor injuries and are currently being questioned.

It is also alleged that the 21-year-old driver does not have a driver's license.

The road death toll currently stands at 46 compared to 55 for the same period last year.
