Police have arrested and charged a 32 year old man of Rewa Street for allegedly strangling his 50 year old mother to death.
Samabula Police have confirmed that the charges were laid after the second post mortem. The Post mortem conducted earlier on revealed that the woman died of a heart-attack.
The Police detectives and Forensic officers visited the scene again and found a confiscated a broken torch and some other items following after which a second post mortem was requested.
The suspect confessed to police that he allegedly strangled his mother and also hit her on the head with a torch following a dispute over money.
The deceased was found dead inside her bedroom with head injuries.
He is expected to appear in the Suva Magistrates court this morning.
