Most of the students assisted by Save the Children Fiji are from families living in squatter settlements.
Fund's Emergency Coordinator Isireli Roganivatu said they have assisted more than 1,000 students from all over the country and majority of these students come from families living in squatter settlements.
He added some of the students also come from broken families.
Meanwhile, a mother of four and a widow living in Nabua whose two children were recipients of the assistance said it has come at an ideal time as she did not have enough money to send her two children to school.
More than $60,000 has been spent on helping more than a thousand students return to school this year.
