Four days after Tropical Cyclone Mick, most people around the country either have no water and or no electricity.
Concerned mother from Naitata in Navua, Noami Seru said they have to go into the hills to fetch creek water to drink and she questions authorities on when their water and power will be restored as she is scared there could be an outbreak of diseases if this situation continues.
Seru said people are also relying on the dirty water from the Navua River for cleaning their houses which also is not good.
On water supply, Works Ministry Spokesperson Sainiana Waqainabete said they are optimistic of the situation normalising.
Waqainabete said most of the areas are expected to receive water today.
On power supply, there is still no time frame given as to when power will be restored.
When Fijivillage contacted the Fiji Electricity Authority Customer Care services this morning, we were informed that there was extensive damage to power poles, base stations around Viti Levu as well as to power lines.
FEA said that there is no time frame on the restoration of power as the damage is extensive adding their engineers are working on a grid by grid basis to restore power.
