Most Hospitals did not face Major Staffing Problems
Most hospital officials Village News spoke to this morning confirmed that nurses worked 8 hour shifts last night.
Officials said seven cases at the CWM Hospital's Operation Theatre were successfully covered and all outpatient cases were seen at the Accident and Emergency unit.
Two nurses worked at the Wainibokasi Hospital looking after seven patients and another two nurses have started this morning.
In Navua, everything was normal as two nurses assisted in looking after 5 patients admitted at the hospital. The nurses are working eight hour shifts and another two nurses have started this morning.
Onto Western Division, no major difficulties have been reported in any hospital in the West. Lautoka Hospital has no major difficulty as services were normal.
In Nadi, five nurses attended to 25 patients in the wards and another nurse is expected to start work soon. Five nurses have started their shifts at 6.30am.
In Ba Mission Hospital, five nurses were on duty last night and there were seven patients at the hospital. However all health and Nursing stations will be closed today
In the North, officials at the Labasa hospital confirm that only 32 nurses are at work today as the nursing strike is severely affecting services.
Many health centres in the country are closed as people have to go to the major hospitals in their area. This is due to the fact that many nurses are being redeployed to the hospitals.
