Australian Prime Minister, Scott Morrison has thanked all Fijians who have sent messages of sympathy and support to the Australian government, especially those that are suffering due to the tragic bush fires.

Morrison called Fijian Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and thanked the Fijians on behalf of all Australians.

Bainimarama wrote to Morrison yesterday saying Fiji stands with our sisters and brothers in Australia in this time of great tragedy.

Bainimarama says whenever Fiji is devastated by a natural disaster, Australia has shown that they are ‘vuvale’ –– our family –– by quickly stepping up with aid and on-the-ground assistance.

Fiji has also offered firefighting support.

Australian High Commissioner to Fiji, John Feakes has communicated Fiji’s offer to Canberra and Australia is expected to communicate back soon on the offer.
