Prepare now and don’t leave it till later, when your loved one passes away.

This is the message from the Ministry of Health to the general public as they will start charging fees for those who keep their loved ones in the morgue for more than 3 days, as of today.

Spokesperson Iliesa Tora said that people are complaining about the fees that is now being charged by the Ministry.

However, he added that overcrowding of the morgue has been a major issue and is an unhealthy procedure that is why they have implemented that fees be paid to allow people to keep the morgue available for those who need it all the time.

Tora added that it will be common knowledge now, that when a relative is in critical condition in hospital, it is advisable for family members to begin preparations, in case the person passes away, all final rituals will be paid accordingly, taking into consideration the time limit of three days.

According to Tora the first 3 days in the morgue will be free, after the 4th and 5th day a fee of $30 a day and from the 6th day onwards, a fee of $50 a day will be charged.
