An increase in the number of youths getting involved in criminal activities should be a worry to everyone.
Director Police Operations SSP Waisea Tabakau said from the period of 1999-2008, police statistics show that there has been an increase of 20% of youths from the ages of 17-24, getting involved in some form of criminal activity.
Tabakau said it was pleasing to note that for juveniles, those aged from 10-16 year olds, their involvement decreased for the same period.
Tabakau added every member of society can help in bringing this number down even further.
Tabakau added during the first five months of this year, they have recorded a 26% reduction in the crime rate compared to the same period last year.
