One of the leading manufacturers in the country, Flour Mills of Fiji said necessary steps should be taken to ensure that more is done to stop the importation of inferior products that come in cheap but do more damage to the country as a whole.

Chairman of FMF Group of Companies Hari Punja said we also need to do more so that people in Fiji support the local industries rather than just relying on imported goods.

Fiji imports snacks valued at more than 40 million dollars annually and this shows the huge amount of imports of such products.

Punja said FMF has already committed to use Fiji grown potatoes for its brand of chips but he said this is not enough.
