More than $70 million has been collected by the Fiji Island Revenue and Customs Authority for February this year.

Chief Executive Officer Jitoko Tikolevu said net tax revenue collected totaled $72.3 million, an increase of 12.1% for the same period last year and $0.2 million more than expected for the month.

Tikolevu adds this was a better than expected performance in Income Tax Collection from PAYE tax, withholding and dividend and provisional taxes.

The CEO said Net VAT collection also for February was really good at $30.4 million an increase of 4.6% as this was mainly collected from Import Vat.

Tikolevu said the outlook for the coming months look favourable although alot of work still needs to be done to improve collection and compliance.
