Police in Western Division have arrested and charged more then 30 drivers who were caught drunk driving over the Christmas break.

Divisional Traffic Officer Western, ASP Richard Raju has confirmed that a team of more then 20 traffic officers are doing constant patrolling in the Western Division to combat road accidents.

ASP Raju said that sometimes innocent lives are lost due to careless drivers who continue to drink and drive despite numerous warning by police.

He has also raised concern that very lenient sentences are handed to those who are caught drunk driving or cause death by dangerous driving.
