More than 2000 land leases will be renewed by the year 2010.
This was revealed today by the interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama while addressing the National Advisory Council Meeting at the Trade Winds Convention Center this morning.
Commodore Bainimarama said the Government is carrying out consultations regarding the arrangement of land leases controlled by the Agricultural Landlord and Tenants Act with the Committee on the Better Utilisation of Land.
Commodore Bainimarama adds, there is a need to improve the living standards of rural areas through infrastructure development to reduce the rural-to-urban drift.
