More than 200 Air Terminal Services workers continue to stay locked out of the ATS premises this hour as they are yet to inform the ATS Chairman, Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum on whether they will hand in their signed letters before returning to work.

Fijivillage has received confirmation that the representatives of the union and ATS Employees Trust has spoken to the workers and they have decided that they will only return to work if there are no conditions for returning to work.

The workers do not want to sign the letters as requested.

We are now awaiting a confirmation on whether the workers will follow through with that decision.

ATS Chairman, Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says he had spoken to the workers that they can come back if they sign the letters saying that they had made a mistake and also give the management the right to take disciplinary action if they may wish to do so.

He says they need the signed letters from the striking workers as ATS would not like to have another walkout.

Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says it is encouraging to see that more than 400 ATS workers continue to come to work to ensure that the airport services continue.

ATS has a total workforce of 640 and about 200 workers are still outside the premises.

We are currently awaiting a statement from the union representatives of the ATS workers.

Stay with us for that.
