More than 10.5 million dollars has been collected during the Tax Amnesty period which began on October 15th.

The Fiji Island Revenue and Customs Authority's General Manager Tax Collection, Madhu Sudan said they expect to meet their target of $30million by the 16th of this month when the Amnesty period ends.

He said many people from abroad also came to Fiji to lodge their tax returns.

Meanwhile, The National I.T Manager of FIRCA, Umesh Chandra revealed that more fraudulent cases have come up where people have given false information about themselves.

However, he said they are investigating the matter themselves before forwarding the files to police.
