Over 100 investors have signed up to bid for the multi-million dollar Momi Bay Resort project which will be auctioned off tomorrow while people from around the world will also be able to call in to register their bids.
Auctioneers, real estate agency Bayley's general manager Philip Toogood told Fijivillage that the auction will also be conducted through their office in Auckland.
Toogood said interest has come from all over the world to purchase the hotel project.
The Momi project is expected to be sold for over $80million, the amount invested in the project by the Fiji National Provident Fund.
The incomplete site which is up for sale includes a 250 room resort, 50 accommodation lots being over water, marina, conference facility, an 18 hole golf course and residential precinct.
Once completed, it is expected to be a five star resort with a world class gold course.
Toogood said once the hammer falls to the highest bid, it will be up to the investor and FNPF to decide when the details of the sale and the name of the new owner will be made public.
Last Friday, attempts by former developers Matapo Limited to try and stop the auction failed after High Court judge Justice William Callancini dismissed an application for an injunction.
The court also ordered that Matapo hand over all the documents, including site plans and maps of the Momi project to the FNPF.
The auction starts at 1:30pm tomorrow at the Natadola Beach Intercontinental Resort.
