For the month of February, a total of 463 Fiji Citizens emigrated, compared to 499 for the same period last year.

Although this was a decline, a breakdown of the Fiji Citizen Emigration by Occupation given by the Bureau of Statistics revealed that of this number 139 were professional workers, while 37 were Legislators, senior officials and Managers.

Further breakdown of emigration by occupation showed that 13 were technicians and related clerical workers while 19 were service workers. The Agricultural and Fisheries industry saw the loss of 26 of its workers, while 67 workers from the Plant and Machine Elementary workforce emigrated in February this year.

As for the total number of workers that emigrated in 2008, the number stood at 5,172, with the highest being 1398 professional workers, which includes Legislators Senior officials and managers.
