More people are expected to be charged in the coming days in relation to alleged seditious acts in the country.
Police Commissioner, Ben Groenewald says he can officially confirm that they had earlier received information with regards to training of a seditious nature being conducted in the interior of Ra by certain groups.
An investigation commenced thereafter headed by Chief of Intelligence and Investigations, ACP Henry Brown.
Groenewald says an earlier outcome of the investigations saw three men produced at the Lautoka Magistrates Court charged with one count of sedition and one count of inciting communal antagonism.
Another two men will be produced at the Rakiraki Magistrates Court later today charged with similar offences.
The Police Commissioner confirms that investigations continue and there is a possibility that more people may be charged.
Groenewald says the team continues their investigations on the ground as they try to establish the intent of the alleged seditious act.
He says Police also received information with regards to the use of guns, however, the Commissioner can confirm that they have not been able to substantiate these claims nor have they located weapons to that effect.
Deputy Commissioner of Operations Isikeli Vuniwaqa is also in the Western Division overseeing the investigations and will be visiting villages and settlements as a proactive measure to talk to people not to get involved in such illegal activities.
Commissioner Groenewald assures the nation that there is no security threat and the people living along the Ra/Tavua/Rakiraki corridor have nothing to fear as police officers are in control of the situation.
It is alleged that the group has been having military style training up in the hills of Ra.
Investigations continue in relation to the group that was earlier trying to set up a sovereign Christian state in Ra.
