Extra efforts need to be taken to reduce poverty in the Pacific.
This is the sentiment of Resident coordinator for UN System operational activities, Knut Ostby at the opening of the "Reporting on the Millennium Development Goals as National issues" workshop in Suva yesterday.
Ostby said that reducing poverty as one of the MDG's needs more efforts to achieve by 2015, as it is an increasing problem in Fiji and Papua New Guinea.
Ostby said the workshop is focused on educating the media on reporting on MDG's for everyone to understand.
The workshop in association with the Pacific Island News Association is being held at the Suva Business Centre and ends today.
