More raids are expected to be conducted by Joint Police and Military operations in the Northern Division as police try to clamp down on those involved in the marijuana business.

Assistant Police spokesperson Corporal Suliano Tevita said they are working on a number of leads and those behind the marijuana business should now surrender themselves to police.

Meanwhile, police continue to interrogate a businessman of Batinikama, Labasa, after some dried leaves believed to be marijuana and more than $35,000 in cash was confiscated from his home.

The raid followed the arrest of some people in Savusavu who were allegedly in possession of dried leaves.

It is believed the businessman has been under surveillance for some time and is also being investigated in relation to the incident in Seaqaqa whereby a huge amount of marijuana leaves were found hidden in the tray of a truck.

The truck was later stripped to remove the marijuana.
