The Viti Taukei Workers Union has applauded the Interim Government after the Cabinet announcement yesterday that the income tax threshold would increase from $9,000 to $15,000 from the first of next month.
General Secretary Taniela Tabu indicated it is a positive move.
Transparency International's Hari Pal Singh said while this move is good for the low income earners, monitoring of the zero duty on goods needs to be carried out.
The Ecumenical Centre for Research, Education and Advocacy said the tax changes brought about by the Interim Government is a very generous move.
ECREA's Chantelle Khan said this is a good move.
However, the Fiji Island Revenue and Customs Authority Staff Association General Secretary Kenneth Zinck said workers of this country are still waiting for COLA.
