The people of Fiji and those in authority must work together to help Fiji move forward.
These are the sentiments of Ratu Josefa Iloilo in his address to the nation at the Fiji Day Celebrations in Albert Park today.
Ratu Josefa Iloilo reiterated that all must work together.
More than 200 security force members, from the military, police and prison officers with 200 civil servants braved the rain at Albert Park for the march pass parade to President Ratu Josefa Iloilo.
More than 400 people including school children took part in the march which was from the Flea Market to Albert Park, before Interim Education Minister Filipe Bole officially opened the 38th anniversary of Fiji's independence.
In his opening, Bole stressed education is the foundation of development, sustainability and progress and encourages the people of Fiji to work together.
He said the rise in conflicts and wars throughout the world are mainly due to people's inability to learn to live together and added that what the country needs is good leaders for the future with an urgent need to instill in our youths a sense of tolerance and unity.
