Save the Children Fiji has confirmed that 1292 students from four schools in Vatukoula are in need of assistance.
Chief Executive Officer, Chandra Shekhar said out of the seven schools, four have indicated they need assistance and students are not able to pay for bus fares and some come to school without lunches.
Shekhar said they have designed a programme for 5 weeks, where the needy children will be provided with return bus fares.
The project officers for the bus fares and the lunch feeding programes will be the head teachers of the schools who will provide reports to Save the Children Fiji. The five-week project for the four schools will cost around $50,000.
He added that they would also be monitoring the attendance of the students in schools to ensure that the assistance provided to them is making a difference in their lives.
