The National Fire Authority will assign additional resources to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal fire which claimed the life of an 86 year old man at Wasavulu Koro in Labasa this morning.

Speaking to Fijivillage this afternoon, Chief Fire Officer Mark Reid said the 3 bedroom corrugated iron and timber house was fully engulfed in flames by the time the fire fighters reached the scene.

He added that dry and windy weather conditions contributed to the intensity of fire which spread and caused extensive damages.

Reid also raised concern on claims that some calls to 911 emergency lines were unanswered.
