More RFMF officers to take witness stand
Khan asked Lasagavibau whether he knew about the alleged plan prior to the meeting in Sabeto where Lasagavibau had claimed the alleged plot was revealed in detail to them.
Lasagavibau said they were briefed about the alleged plot by Lance Corporal Peniasi Kuli prior to leaving for Sabeto which was to destabilize the government and they were to help Kuli gather more information relating to the alleged plan.
Khan then told Lasagavibau to talk about the meeting at Nausori which is alleged to have taken place at the roof top of the Naitasiri Provincial Council Office.
Lasagavibau told the court that he could not recall the date but he was picked up with Kuli, Sevuloni Kaidreli and Luke Soa in a blue twin cab and was dropped off at a park in Nausori at about 5.30pm.
Lasagavibau said a total of 10 people were at the meeting where Barbedoes Mills led the talks and reminded them that there was work to be done and they were to focus on the plan and the training exercise.
Khan asked Lasagavibau if Kuli said anything about the arms.
The reply was no as the witness said they were there to help gather information.
Khan questioned Lasagavibau whether the meeting at Nausori was to trap the accused persons by him and his team.
Lasagavibau said they only wanted to prevent the plan.
Yesterday, in his evidence, Lasagavibau had revealed that they were briefed by one of the accused, Sivaniolo Naulago at a farm house in Sabeto on the alleged assassination plot.
According to Lasagavibau the briefing that they received from Naulago was that the alleged plan to assassinate the Army Commander and others was based on the utilization of the army to kill the Commander and to make Fiji a police state.
Lasagavibau then said that according to the alleged plan, there should be no more members of the RFMF, once the assassination plot is carried out and that if there was a need for military back up, they would get the Australia and New Zealand army to assist them in the plan.
Lasagavibau mentioned that there were detailed plans from Naulago on how to secure the military installations especially the armory at the RFMF headquarters in Nabua.
He said the plans, also involved the granting of amnesty to those who would take part in the group.
The trial continues this morning.
