A few police officers have been sent to Nacula, Yasawa, to collect more evidence on the 27 year old woman burying her new born baby alive.
Assistant Police Spokesperson, Corporal Josaia Weicavu said the post mortem was conducted, however, the cause of death could not be determined due to the condition of the decomposed body.
Corporal Weivacu said police will interview the woman once she has been released from the hospital before any charges are laid.
The woman allegedly buried her new born baby a few metres away from her home soon after giving birth.
The matter was reported to police over the weekend by the villagers and doctors of Nacula after foul smell was discovered coming beside the woman’s house.
