More males have become victims to heart related diseases compared to females.

Statistic collected by the Colonial Insurance from the Health Ministry shows that in 2006, 7000 people were admitted to the hospital due to heart related diseases and out of this 7% people died.

However the Group Marketing Manager of Colonial Nirdesh Singh said that last year 4200 were admitted and 24% out of this figure died in the hospitals.

Singh said that the World Health Organisation has already predicted that there will be a high increase in the number of people suffering from non communicable diseases by 2030 which will also include heart related diseases.

According to Singh data collected by Colonial shows that more young people are falling into this category.
