More Chinese tourists expected
Chief Executive officer, Josefa Tuamoto confirmed that Fiji's 2010 visitor intake figures from China are already showing a massive 90 per cent plus spike for the first two months of the year.
He said the high level of interest now being shown in Fiji by the Chinese market was extremely promising given that official visitor arrivals figure for the January-February 2010 period had already shown a 93.2 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2009.
Tuamoto added that February figures alone had shown a massive 112 per cent increase over the same month in the preceding year.
He believes these figures can be improved.
He said they have also seen an increase in tourists from India.
Tuamoto also said the national tourist office was joined in China by Mana Island Resort & Spa, Sonaisali Island Resort, the Warwick Resort & Spa, Rosie Holidays and Tour Managers.
