More Charges against Peni Mau
Mau was charged on April 4th with one count of abuse of office and one count of conspiracy to defraud.
It is alleged that between April 1st 2003 and February 29th 2004, Mau while he was General Manager of Post Fiji, directed an arbitrary act where he approved and authorized the purchase of an external Seiko Clock worth $75,000 from Prouds Company without following the proper tender process.
On the second count of conspiracy to defraud, it is alleged that Mau and former Chairman of Post Fiji Limited Mahendra Patel acted with intent to defraud Post Fiji and conspired together to purchase the external clock for $75,0000 without being authorized to do so.
FICAC lawyers have confirmed that these are separate cases and the two cases against Mau will be brought into the court separately.
The case has been adjourned till 23rd of May.
