One of the large mobile companies in Fiji has gone into partnership with the Health Ministry, to broaden the reach of important health messages.
In a statement Digicel Fiji said they will be using their texting platform to publicize health updates to its customers who may otherwise by unable to access information through traditional methods.
The current series of messages include information on Filarisis, and on the distribution and availability of medication for the parasitic infection, supporting the work of the Health Ministry.
It goes on to say that Digicel has also engaged with the Ministry, local doctors and the World Health Organisation to help extend the flow of information on H1N1 Flu, increasing knowledge, awareness and protection.
