Telecom giant, Amalagamated Telecom Holdings Limited has today confirmed that a further reduction in mobile call charges is expected in the next few weeks as the interim government continues work on bringing about competition in the market.
At the company's AGM this morning in Suva, ATH Acting CEO Tomasi Vakatora stressed that the decrease in tarrifs is not expected to affect the performance of its subsidiary companies.
Commerce Commission Chairman Thomas Raju confirms that they are expected to announce the reduced mobile call charges within weeks.
Meanwhile, ATH Board Chairman Kanti Tappoo also confirms that they are working with the interim government in setting the legal framework to deregulate the market and reach a common ground on the compensation to reliquish the exclusive licences held by Vodafone Fiji, FINTEL and Telecom Fiji Limited.
ATH has today announced a net profit after tax of $41.5 million, 19 percent up from last year and will pay out 3 cents per share as dividend next month.
