Drew Mitchell will miss the remainder of the Super Rugby season and is in serious doubt for the World Cup.

Mitchell sustained a fractured leg and a dislocated ankle in the Waratah's four point loss to the Queensland Reds.

The in form New South Wales winger, a surety for a Wallabies jersey later in the year, was stretchered from the Suncorp Stadium pitch midway through the first half, after colliding with Reds No.8 Scott Higginbotham.

Meanwhile, in the results of the games this weekend, Highlanders beat the Crusaders 26-18, Sharks thumped Hurricanes 40-24, Chiefs edge the Lions 34-30 and Reds continue with their impressive form beating the Waratahs 19-15.
