The eight people missing at the sea since yesterday have been rescued.
This has been confirmed by the National Operations Command Centre a few minutes ago.
Three people were rescued earlier while five other were rescued this morning and they made it to the Somosomo village in Gau Island.
Six males and two females left for Nakelo landing for Lamiti village Gau island yesterday morning and were suppose to arrive at Lamiti village after four hours but the 8 passengers on a white fibre glass punt never reached their destination.
The punt had developed engine problem at sea near Sawaieke village in Gau and was drifting.
