The Permanent Secretary for the Transport Ministry is expected to meet with the Land Transport Authority officials to discuss the confusions surrounding the recent taxi and bus fare increase.

Anand Kumar confirmed to Village News that the current taxi fare increase of 33% still remains.

According to the LTA, the 33 percent increase across the board means that there will be a 33 cent increase in the flag fall and 13 cent increase in running distance over every 200 meters.

His comment comes after the General Secretary of the Fiji Taxi Union Rishi Ram said earlier today that they will stick to the 33% increase and do not want only the 50 cents increase in the flag fall which they earlier welcomed.

Ram said he has spoken to Kumar and is waiting for the meeting between him and LTA officials to eventuate before making any further comments.
