The Ministry of Health is working together with the Education Ministry and UNICEF to provide safe drinking water to schools based in rural areas.
Ministry of Health Spokesperson, Iliesa Tora said this is in the planning stages to reduce the number of school days with interrupted water supplies.
Tora said the health officials will also assist to ensure that these schools get purified drinking water.
The Health Ministry is hopeful that the safe water projects will also reduce the cases of diarrhea and dysentery.
