The Environment Ministry is embarking on looking at ways to reduce the dependency of consumers on the use of plastic bags which is slowly killing our environment.
Acting Director for Environment Joape Davetanivalu said they are now calling for tenders from consultations to help evaluate options to reduce consumption of plastic bags in Fiji.
Davetanivalu said the people of Fiji are too dependent on the use of plastic bags and they must find alternatives.
A plastic bag can take between 100 to 800 years to decompose.
