In an effort to ensure that bedridden and sickly clients receive assistance, the Social Welfare Ministry will be working together with the Turaga Ni Koro and Advisory Councilors.

There are reports that at times the clients who receive Family and Food Voucher assistance do not get the full sum of money when it is collected by a third party.

The 3rd Party Encashment of Family Assistance and Food Vouchers is being reviewed and Permanent Secretary Govind Sami said identification cards will be made for recipients’ and 3rd party photos.

This ID card will be valid for three months following which home visits will be conducted to ensure that these clients are still there.

However he told Fijivillage that incase the recipient passes away it will become the responsibility of the family members to inform the Ministry.
