As the number of people contracting the H1N1 virus continues to rise daily, the Health Ministry said they will be stepping up the monitoring of large gatherings, such as the week long Pacific Youth Festival in Suva.
Health Media Liaison Officer Iliesa Tora said with the daily increase in figures, the only step they can take at this stage is to closely monitor such large gatherings.
He added the last resort will be to close off large gatherings.
Another 13 cases of H1N1 were recorded yesterday and this brings the total to 65 cases.
Tora is calling on people with even running nose, cough and headache to see the doctor immediately.
He said people have to understand that these are not normal times and any flu that seems normal could be H1N1.
