Secondary school students as well as school dropouts from the North will now be roped in by the Health Ministry to act as peer educators.

This was revealed by Adolescent Health Project Officer Sister Sulueti Duvaga as the Division recorded an increase in the number of teenage pregnancy cases for 2009.

Last year, the North recorded the second highest number of teenage girls between the ages of 13-25 years giving birth, with a total of 153 cases reported.

Duvaga said that comparing the statistics from 2008, there was an increase of about an average of 6 cases and this is a worrying trend for the Division.
