Ministry targets $100m in savings
In a special report handed to Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama by Interim Public Service Minister Poseci Bune, he outlines key achievements in their efforts to reduce the size and cost of the Public Service.
The report highlights that a saving of $1.3 million was achieved by terminating Government CEO's. $20 million saved through the 5% pay cut while the suspension of the partnership agreement with the public service unions will also save around $64 million in revenue.
Seven Government ministries are also reported to have recorded savings amounting to $1.6 million.
Meanwhile, Bune's special report also highlights that a total of 118 postings and transfers of administration staff have been done as part of the rotation exercise reactive by PSC.
Bune said this is done to reduce the possibility of abuse of office and promote individual effectiveness and efficiency amongst civil servants.
