Ministry receives freezer containers from AUSAID
Media Liaison Officer Iliesa Tora said a freezer container each will be placed at the CWM Hospital and the Lautoka Hospital.
He added both hospitals have recorded full mortuaries in the past 2 days.
Tora said Lautoka has 25 bodies, 14 bodies more than 11 berths it has while the CWM has exceeded the total berth number.
The hospital has 24 berths, 28 bodies were in the morgue by Monday night.
Nadi and Wainibokasi have also recorded full morgues.
The Ministry of Health is grateful for the kind assistance, especially at a time when the country is trying to come to grips with the damage caused by Hurricane Tomas.
At the same time the ministry is requesting families of the deceased being kept at the mortuaries to facilitate their final rites as soon as possible, once the all clear for good weather is given.
The Ministry is also looking at out sourcing the mortuary service.
