The Ministry of Youth and Sports has put a submission to the Interim Government asking for $4 million for next year, when the 2009 Budget is announced tomorrow.

Director Youth and Sports, Josefa Matau said the $4 million is needed for Youth and Sports for next year.

He said while the ministry's budget submission for youth development programmes totaled $2.3 and the ministry has requested a total of $1.97 for sports development.

Matau said items included in the overall sports budget include the national sporting organisations grants, Rural Sports field Development and Sports Outreach programmes.

He said the only new item requested under the sports development budget was funding for the newly established Boxing Commission of Fiji.
