The Labour Industrial Relations and Productivity and the Tourism Ministry has now split up and merged with other ministries in the wake of the 2008 National Budget announcement on Friday.

The merger will see the Tourism Ministry now being a part of the Industry, Tourism, Trade and Communications Ministry whilst Industrial Relations will be a part of the Industrial Relations, Employment, Youth and Sports Ministry.

The Ministry of Labour and Tourism is currently managed by Interim Minister, Bernadette Rounds Ganilau.

When Village News contacted Ganilau this morning on the merging of her ministries, she referred all questions to the Interim Prime Minister.

Ganilau had earlier said after the budget announcement that whatever is to happen now, she is very thankful to her two permanent secretaries, Taito Waqa for the Labour Ministry and Adi Banuve Kaumaitotoya for the Tourism Ministry, for helping her carry out her duties.
