The Lands Ministry is now looking at bringing in surveyors from overseas primarily to improve the ministry's service delivery.
Ministry permanent secretary Maria Mataweva said the shortage of surveyors has always been a problem in Fiji and steps need to be taken now.
Mataweva added they have also taken some surveyors on contracts who had retired earlier in the year.
